FAT is the finest solution of NOROn for mining dump truck fleets. It will autonomously execute any tasks that needed to be done from dump truck drivers in order to haul in mine and also monitoring and maintaining the dump truck itself. However the driver of follower truck needs to monitor the situation, but he needs much less attention and cognitive ability than driving. In evolved versions of NOROn PS, even the follower driver can sleep during following phase

Hybrid product of NOROn, is a mediocre between PS and Fully Autonomous System. In Hybrid product, the follower truck doesn’t need any supervising driver in the following phase and it can handle any situation by itself.

Fully Autonomous Truck

Fully Autonomous System is the final product of NOROn. Using this product will make the truck independent from driver. We have defined PS and Hybrid product in order to complete our business plan before reaching to Fully Autonomous Product. Furthermore, developing Fully Autonomous System needs heavy engineering efforts and regulatory requirement that having PS and Hybrid as milestones will help these two complexities in a good way.

With or Without NOROn?

 

In the table below, we compare the performance of a haulage fleet based on different scenarios. 

Scenario A)
This Scenario represents a normal haulage fleet that needs one driver on boarded with each truck when operating. In this scenario we have time wasting for rest time and shift change between drivers. Also human driving isn’t efficient and perfect. So the high level cost of maintenance and high probability of collision and casualties during the operation is inevitable.

 

Scenario B)
First level of implementing NOROn on a haulage fleet is NOROn SAT. In this situation each driver, drives two dump truck on the same time. The leader truck has driver and the follower truck is autonomous on following task.

 

Scenario C)
The final situation is that we won’t need any drivers on the fleet and instead we will have NOROn FAT on each truck, driving autonomously.
